285.58-desktop-winxp-32bit-english-whql Driver Performance in QuarkXpress 8

After updating GeForce 8800GTS drivers to the latest 285.58 driver, QuarkXpress (and Adobe applications) are running without GUI acceleration, as is apparent in this screen redraw. I've loaded a project into QuarkXpress 8, minimized the application, then restored it. On the old driver, that would take about as long as it takes an eye to blink. With this driver, it's several seconds. It makes these applications so sluggish that every move entails several seconds waiting for the computer to accept input again. Mouse pointer freezes and stutters during the screen redraws.
