i have a question: what do you do if a snake is constricting your hand very tightly?

I'd have to say that it is usually not done because they are being "mean". I'd try holding with more support, it may feel as if it is not secure and is holding on for dear life.

If it bites and wraps, I've heard that the way to get them off is to start the shower, when the water gets too hot, they'll let go to get away from it.

If it's a smaller snake, you could probably just start unwrapping it, tail first.

That's why I like working with the little snakes, not much danger there. :)

On these, I am trusting Reed. Some people with a good eye can tell by looking at the shape of the tail. another way to determine sex is by probing, inserting a snake probe in the cloaca, and how far in it goes will usually correctly determine the sex. Although probing is more accurate, it too can be incorrect, and can damage the snake. When snakes are babies, sometimes you can press on the tail, and get the male's genitals to pop out.

@mtolypetsupply  My BF and I are in the process of building a bigger cage for the corn with climbing shelves,etc. Here in Miami heating isn't an issue so I hope it comes out well lol than will post a vid. We got her from Kathy Love . The hondos are stunning love yours. I have always been afraid of them but must say nothing beats their colors . Adult hondos unlike many snakes hold their colors great which is a big plus.
