Clifford Gordon (Sax)
Anderson DeWalt (Bass)
Jeremy Dutton (Drums)
and myself (Warren Sylvester- Piano)

from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) jamming after school, accompanied by:

Mr. Andre Hutchins (Trumpet)

The song is Strasbourg/St. Denis by the Roy Hargrove Quintet. Our FIRST time putting it together. Enjoy. (Apostolically, of course.)

  • @BassClefMusic woah man chill...you should be encouraging them to keep this up man. They are the future of music...and its a blessing to see these BLACK students playing jazz rather than banging on a damn beat machine or out in the streets doing nothing...we all were in their position when we were learning how to play...and its people like you who gave us motivation...i hope you are motivating them to playing at the Lincoln Center someday...and you will be asking for their autograph

  • Is that a lead sheet on the piano? If so, what would I have to do to get a scan of it? I think I have most of the chords down, but I want to check.

    Great sound by the way!

  • One of my favorite Hargrove tunes...very well done gentlemen!

  • I'm a Steelpan (Steel Drum) player from Trinidad & Tobago and u'll hardly get a group of high school kids playing at this level down here. Bass u need 2 work on ur timing and confidence. Piano did some nice re-harmonization and a tasty solo. Sax u were wonderful, nice tone. Trumpet solo rhythmic patterns were great. U need 2 focus more on the clarity of ur notes, they just weren't correct (if u ain't hittin the notes on them inside lines right, then the outside ones gonna sound worse)

  • best piano solo ever

    wish it were longer

  • Tasty piano solo.

  • yeah!! you guys got it the drummer is grooving hard! love it!

  • sounds great! Keep it up

  • Sax is killin, bass needs to work on his time, especially at the beginning when he's alone
