The NATO war games are scheduled to take place in Georgia between May 6 and June 1. This plan has angered Moscow, but some other CIS countries, such as Russias ally Armenia, are willing to take part in the drills. Is the military co-operation of the ex-Soviet nations possible? Well be discussing this issue with Aleksandr Sinaisky, the Secretary of the CIS Defence Ministers Council.

  • Not all but some are still allies

Those who do not bow to western lies

and refuse to be United Shits of AmUrica puppets

my respect only goes to Armenia, Belarus Kazakhstan Abkhazia and Kyrgyzstan

  • Armenia will never join NATO, it can never be in the same coalition as Turkey. These NATO drills it participates in are for two reason, first it allows it to observe how some of the most militarily advanced countries in the world operate and second, it's a friendly gesture towards the U.S and Europe, since the EU is a significant trading partnet with Armenia and the U.S gives it a lot of aide.

  • Russia is the largest nation in terms of land mass, Russia has the richest untapped supplies of natural resources, it has an unmatched cultural heritage, beautiful cities on and on. I do not think all these aspects are to be underestimated and I do not think this is simply a "projection" devoid of reality.

As far as Turkey goes...NO COMMENT.

  • Yes, however Armenia (rightfully) obstained. Georgia is playing with fire, mark these words, they will lose even more land with their utterly chauvinistic approach instead of realizing that Georgia is home to various peoples that need to be respected in their own right and not pursue 'Georgia for Georgians' policy. This is not an "anti-Georgian" call, I simply hope they will reverse their discrmination throughout Georgia, including towards Armenians.

  • They have not been able to unite but have tried and ARE trying to this very day and will do so in the future. Again, why do you think genocide took place? Why are we fighting in Artsakh? Armenia and the Armenian people ARE that wedge between two Turkic-Altaic nations of Turkey and Azerbaijan want to ERASE the NATIVE ARMENIANS from their own Homeland. As I said this essentially will create a DE FACTO land linkage stretching through Central Asia and even parts of China all the way to Siberia.

  • armenia had been planning to participate in the war games regardless of russia (which is good)- and infact, while the war was going on in georgia, last year's nato war games were held in armenia herself...

  • they have had some 18 years to unite, and still they havn't aside from closer cooperation between the two states, it does not seem like any serious steps have been taken by either side to fulfill this idea of a super pan-turkic empire of evil. i don't think any realist politician both in ankara or moscow, actually plans his agenda based on this interpretation. and anyway tatarstans tatar population is less than half the pop. of the entire republic

  • no, but russia certainly tries to project a more powerful image than it really has. turkey's influence is inflated by the fact that it sits in one of the most strategically important parts of the world.

  • Armenia did not, as I said in solidarity with Russia, Armenia backed out, although the official reason was instability in Georgia.

Afterall of this, NATO says that Georgia will be a prospective member in not so distant future. I guess Georgian government has really decided to fight these endless wars on behalf of NATO (on the very doorsteps of Russia), including in Abkhazia and South Ossetia. It will only at the end simply fragment (further) Georgia as it already has been.

  • The official reason was instability in Georgia, but I would say it was more in solidarity with Russia.

  • Pan-turkism is coveted by some of the highest echelons of power in the Turkish and Azeri governments.

As I said, the Turkish and Azeri Turk relationship is exactly based on this yearning to unite and this is a reality AND BOTH Armenia and Russia (which has its own Turkic republics like Tatarstan that had very strong separatist and Turkist aspirations) are a wedge and a guard against this ambition.

  • Most of the oil shipped to Europe was Siberian through the "druzhba" at its "peak" oil from Baku and environs reached 17 million tons of annual outtake which was about 7-8% of total Soviet output.
