Pride, a Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue, learns some targeting games. Pride is 13 months old in this video. These are the very beginning stages of these behaviors and are works in progress. Clicker training works. Give a click a try. :-)

  • Super brilliant :)

  • @kikopup Thanks, Emily. :-D

  • Great idea using the target to improve his sit!! I always learn something from your video:) Thanks! How is the shelter position going? It was the shelter wasn't it?!

  • @dogscatskp Thank you for asking. I sent you a note. :-)

  • very nice!!! What method did you use to teach the go out? And are you planning on competing with pride in the obedience ring?!!!!

  • @fickla01 Thank you for watching our video. I hope to compete with Pride in obedience when he is ready. I have a target in the grass and sent him to the target. After lots of practice, I will make the target smaller and smaller. Sometimes I'll throw a toy, sometimes cue a stand or down. This is just the start. We'll need a lot of practice with this behavior. Thank you, again, for watching. :-)

  • I also wanted to say that I love the use of the target for the tuck sit!

  • Very nice improvement in the tuck sit!!!!

  • My dog moves back when he sits too. What a great way to fix it! Thank you so much for the tip!

  • Yet another creative use for targeting! I love it! We can use this in Rally when she usually does a rock back sit and is far away from me. Good luck on your obedience! (I know you won't need it)

  • This is brilliant! I will try this with my greyhound and see if he can learn it just as well! Thanks!

  • Great job! He is gorgeous! I agree with everyone else, very clever idea using the target for his sit. :)

  • Love the target training to improve his sit at heel, really smart!
