The trebuchet is a medieval siege weapon. The Yankee Siege was built in Greenfield, NH and has won several pumpkin distance contests. This launch was captured October 7, 2006 in Greenfield, NH
@jonchall8 The wheels make it more efficient. By letting the base move under the arm, the weight is allowed to drop on a straighter path. This results in a faster-moving throwing arm and a more powerful shot. Locking the wheels would make it less powerful.
that is cool Yankee Siege is my favirite lounching machine ever it was cool when they destroyed there own record. the new record i think is 2038 ft i hope they go to chunkin next year even know he made a deal for 2000 ft. that new arm made that pumpkin fly

They really need to add a way to lock the wheels, or put chocks behind them.

It gets better with wheels actually.

From my experience I would say the same thing. So so so much energy is lost when it moves the whole thing on wheels.
