http://www.GavinRoskamp.com/ - Newly revamped with improved performance!
Episode 42 - BetterTouchTool

Hey everyone, this very neat utility called "BetterTouchTool" will help you create almost any gesture-related shortcut you could think of for the Apple Magic Mouse and the trackpads on Apple notebooks. Want to have three fingers swipe up to quit the current app? Ok! Select three finger swipe up to press ⌘Q.

With this amazing utility, you can set anything - one finger to four finger - gesture to do any key combination. Three finger click for middleclick/⌘+Click? Ok!

To get this utility, go to http://blog.boastr.net/ and click Downloads (Secondbar & BetterTouchTool), then click Download next to BetterTouchTool.

NOTICE:
After this video was recorded and produced, a new version of BetterTouchTool was released that includes a live view of the mouse or trackpad. Launch this gadget in the utility and you can see how many fingers you have on the mouse and where they are. Very neat. I am sorry that I couldn't get it put into the video!

NOTICE:
BetterTouchTool is provided for free to enhance your experience using an Apple Magic Mouse or trackpad on an Apple notebook. Apple is in no way affiliated with the creators of this utility and do not support it. You may encounter bugs while using this program that may cause undesirable interference with your user experience. Use at your own risk.

  • this doesn't work on my mbp, maybe because it doesn't support multi touch.

  • Probably. I think its only for the new glass ones.

  • btw, when exporting this video in screenflow make the size of it 640 360 and it will be fit the whole youtube player.

  • I export using full HD settings, 1280x720. To get full HD, I set my canvas area to be this before I start editing. I then resize the video to fit in it, then when I zoom in, it fits the whole player without looking squashed. Having 1280x720 also enables YouTube 720HD, which is my standard for my videos.

In short, it actually is constantly taking up the whole player - when zoomed out, however, it is just blank space. I am working on making the blank space white now so it looks better.

  • ok, tyvm. so if i use 1280x720 will the video be hd?

  • Yes, but make sure you set it in the canvas - the area where you edit - not just at the end. But yes, 1280x720 is technically HD - its 720p HD. If you have ultra-HD footage, i forget what the width resolution is but the height it 1080, so its 1080p and it will get a drop-up menu from the hd button to choose which one.

  • I using this with my Magic Trackpad on connected to my Mac Pro, and with the trackpad on my MacBook Air. Both work great. I also created a couple of videos on how I'm using BetterTouchTool.
