This is a segment of a much larger video production that I am working on and am looking for feedback (positive and negative) on the layout and content.

----------------------------

The English vocabulary and its definitions are very inadequate in conveying the meanings of Hebrew words.
PPT-Teach
In the following passages, from the KJV, we find the word "teach," an English word meaning "to impart knowledge or skill; to give instruction."

Exo 18:20 And thou shalt teach them ordinances and laws, and shalt shew them the way wherein they must walk, and the work that they must do.

Exo 24:12 And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

Deu 4:1 Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

Deu 4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons' sons;

Deu 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Job 33:33 If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.

Each use of the word "teach" in these six passages is the English translation of six different Hebrew words, each with its own unique meaning.

Exo 24:12, yarah - To point out the direction to go

Exo 18:20, zahar - To advice caution

Deu 4:1, lamad - To urge to go in a specific direction

Deut 4:9, yada (cuasative?) - To provide experience

Deu 6:7, shanan - To sharpen

Job 33:33, alaph - To show through example

The original meaning of these six Hebrew words are completely erased and lost when they are simply translated as "teach," demonstrating the need of going beyond the simple translations.

  • wonderful & needed..../....your pronunciation of # 6 is difficult to understand. Can you write it in transliterated English ? Is it alef, lamed, kaf sofit or pey sofit ? Thank you

  • @elishebabb I think you are referring to the word אלף aleph-lamed-pey sofit - ah-laph

  • and technically למד = lamed means "to goad". a person is arrogant to think they can teach another. at most they can goad someone to do something, and what they learn, they learn it of their own accord. even the most high only goads creation. creation acts or reacts according to its own volition. the hebrew tongue is perfect, and scholars who have written whole concordances dont know letters. the technically word for teach is תורה =towrah and it means literally=guide

  • @safirpurim Excellent post and I agree 100%. I kept the definitions in this video simple and did not not into the details of these words here, but I do in other videos.

  • technically אלף means literally=to do it without a reward. alef is the action of doing something no worrying if one gets a reward or condemned for it. it is doing what needs to be done, regardless of the outcome. that is why it is the first letter. because all things must be done simply because they need to be, not for reward or profit, and not because another may speak against someone

  • @safirpurim I see אלף as "learning by association." To learn by following the examples of others.

  • @ZeusTelemaxos Must be a script writer for paliwood.

  • hebrew history, the bible and biblical archaeology have been debunked 100's of times by academia. The only people that back these ridiculous myths are Christians and israelis who either need to legitimize their faith or to legitimize their illegal occupation of Palestine and the genocides that theyre commiting.
