Totally fine to use bat against the shoulder. If you use proper mechanics it will come off when it needs to!

Is it ok to use this "bat against the shoulder" technique during live game play or is it only recommended for training purposes?

@themetsfan861 weight is never shifted to an unbalance. go ahead and try to hit off your back leg or front. its like a punch, must be balanced.

Hold on!!!
Level swing; Is only effective with pitch in level swing zone!!! First determine an individuals level swing zone.. for example, a thrown "Strike pitch" at knees for a 6'2" batter must be "golfed" for outfield pop, or the 6'2" batter must "squat"(small strike zone) for infield hit. squatting will give the batter a smaller zone for a level swing! There is more to it than that, and i'm not talking about stepping and shifting. in most cases, Rotation should be automatic.
