Fire Crew Leaders Layed Off for Not Speaking Spanish

In Oregon several Crew leaders on the fire-fighting squads are being laid off because they do not speak Spanish. State laws require that the Crew Leader be able to communicate with the crew. If one person on the 20 person crew is Spanish-only speaking, the crew leader must be bilingual. Why not layoff the one Spanish only crewman? Insanity.
