  • I think Leonard wouldn't likely agree, but I have always associated this song with the aftermath and subsequent events of 911.

"Don't dwell on what has past away, or what is yet to be."

"Wars fought again; holy dove cut again . . the dove is never free"

" . . while the killers in high places say their prayers out loud . ."

"We asked for signs; signs were sent."

"They've summoned up a thunder cloud and they're gonna hear from me."

and more (running out of characters!)

  • Are you referring to the 'wobbling' statement -i was meaning my poor recording of the song! As a Leonard Cohen widower I could not comment on his songs -altho' words are pure poetry (I've issues with some of the production on his albums)

..hindsight allows us all to invent associations for any manner of media & events -look at who is to blame for the May street fighting in Barcelona during the Spanish Civil War (garcia lorca, poet -'take this waltz' was murdered during that war)

  • I dream of the day that Loeonard come to my country, Colombia!

  • A really great document of very moving and poetical performance, universal lyrics that transcend any particular event.

  • Such a gentleman!

  • VERY BEAUTIFUL :)) Mister Leonard, we are all looking forward to your forthcoming visit to Poland. We are sure it will be one of the most beautiful evenings in our lives ...

  • I have to say thank you and then totally agree with you... whilst this is available it'll be a very special & moving memory..

  • P.S. Yes, I realize this song was on his FUTURE album, which was produced some ten or more years before 911 in New York.
