Thanks for your comments and noticing the lunch kits. Hell No, we are not on Hilason's wouldn't waste my money on one. If you are interested in sidesaddle there are some great groups.; ASA - American Sidesaddle Association since we are in America and California particularly, we are members of CA_Aside these groups are wonderful sidesaddle aficionados and very giving of information so that you will purchase a proper sidesaddle that will work for you and your horse.

I am hesitant to even try it because it seems a little more dangerous than the regular way. It was what killed Bonnie in Gone with the Wind.

Please do not be too hesitant. Once you have tried it you will realize how secure it really is. In fact, while jumping the saddle actually keeps you from going too far forward on the horse. I see so many riders today jumping ahead of the horse (Christopher Reeves) this saddle does not allow that giving the horse better movement over the fence. check out youtube video Sidesaddle Championships High-jump 'puissance'

Remember the saddle must fit the rider as well as the horse

Its 'A' way - there is no 'proper'. Proper is whatever suits you and your horse.

@margiebeeson Close-Contact saddles do that (throw you to far forward). I ride Dressage, but my trainer also will give lessons in jumping, and still uses only Dressage saddles to teach with.

I envy you so much. I wanted to learn, but I ended up selling my broke horse before I could ever try. My horses now would never let me do that. There's only one person in a four-hour radius who rides sidesaddle; one of these days I need to try to set up a lesson with her.

@naturalysam Sidesaddles an e found on eBay regularly, and Hhilason makes a nice treeles version as well as girths and pads. I have one ( slightly western style with suede sticvhed seat and leaping horn) but haven't tried it out yet.
