One way that I wrap my scarves for practicing and performing American Tribal Style bellydance. I make no claims that this is the "only" or "correct" way to wear a scarf-- it's just what I do. Hope it helps someone!

*NOTE* An easy way to explain the direction of the twists: when twisting each individual scarf, twist AWAY from your face. When twisting the two on each side together, twist TOWARD your face. This assumes you want the top scarf to be the one framing your face. If not, reverse the directions. :D

  • i adore this one, especially with the fringed poncho. do you remember where you got that poncho?

  • I do-- at a thrift store. :/ Not too helpful, I know. I'd take a look online-- it's not uncommon to find similar items on ebay. And of course, keep an eye out at the charity shops. Sorry I couldn't help!

  • I love your videos! Just a question though - I tried this look and tried to use a rubber band at the bottom of the twisted scarves and it just all untwists until its hanging flat against my face. How do you use a rubber band or yarn to keep it twisted together?

  • I haven't ever had a problem with a rubber band not holding, so I'm guessing you're not twisting enough? The twist should hold provided the band/yarn is holding the two scarves together. Nothing magical. You may want to make sure you're twisting each individual scarf tightly, and then twisting them together tightly. Then rubberband. If you keep having problems, let me know and I'll try to help!

  • Hee! Thanks for the mention! I DO love this one the best - I would so do it. And I have a pea head too. I posted both of the new videos to FB because you're awesome.

Ameena - you could totally even wear your half circlet piece OVER this - it would hold it in place. Eeee!

  • Yep, this wins as my absolute favorite so far. Trish can attest: I now show up every other day wearing this style. Gives me an excuse to buy more scarves, too. :D

  • Pretty!! I had no idea there were so many dance-related scarf tying styles! Thanks so much for sharing! ^_^

  • Such a great idea. I'm going 2 use my swim skirt wraps after swimming. It goes great w/a baithing suit & after a swim I don't hv 2 worry about fixing my hair!! ; ) & protect my hair from the sun 2.

  • Thanks, lady! I think this one is so flattering-- and flexible since you can chose to frame or "open up" your face by wrapping the scarves toward or away from yourself. I'd like to try it with a brown (or brown/blue) underscarf to see if it looks more like "hair."

  • Having seen this wrap on you in real life - it's the coolest looking wrap EVER!! Now all I need is that cute elfen face to top it all off. Heehee! However, even MY face looks good with it... watch out Ren Faire, here I come.
