It may be important to whom these photographs have perhaps given added voice, that I put into images some of the feelings and realities of what these people are still right now going through as they try and rebuild their lives and their homes in the Kabul suburb of Gada-e-Maiwaind; an ancient suburb destroyed by repeated interfactional and warlord fighting between the remnants of the groups that were once known as the Mujaheddin.
The time I spent with these dozens of nameless individuals who invited me into their 'world' to photograph them was a profound experience.
These images helped me feel, see, and better understand man's indefatigable capacity to overcome.
