This is a short clip explaining how to do a parallel park for the UK DSA driving test.

By the www.thedrivingskool.com

Below is a text overview of the manoeuvre:
Parallel Park

• MSPSL as you approach

• Pull up beside the parked vehicle (max a metre/door width away & straight) and stop when your left hand mirror lines up with the front of the vehicle.

• Handbrake & put the car into reverse.

• Look @ the camber of road and decide how much gas/biting point. Am I going up hill/down hill?

• Observations all round

• Handbrake off & half a turn LEFT. Slow car, quick steer.

• Observations all round

• When the left hand mirror lines up with the corner of the parked vehicle, half a turn RIGHT (the wheels are now straight)

• Observations all round/slow car

• Take the car slowly slowly back/observations all round

• When the curb lines up with the back of the car (small mirror "V") one turn RIGHT.

• Observations/looking all round, especially the KERB

• Just before the car is parallel one turn LEFT (to straighten wheels)

• Handbrake up & take out of gear

Throughout the manoeuvre you can make any adjustments you want just keep its SAFE!

Give way to all other road users including pedestrians.

  • I am sure she is way too far from the car in front...

  • Next time don't use 500m to parallel park. What if you had a car behind and you had to squeeze between them...

  • @wickedjake34 Your supposed to be so other people can park there.

  • Nice , confident and easy !! Thanx

  • Park it with a handbrake turn! :D Nah i'm kidding, nice job!

  • Thanx a lot. Among the other vid of parallel parking this is really easy and clear. I tried it today morning and it worked.

  • Great video! You make it look nice and easy :)

  • Thanks!! This was really useful. I wish you were my instructor!

  • Good Video, you have a really nice and calm manner :)

Just one tip though - your first reference point would only work on small - medium sized cars. If you used this method when parking behind a transit van you would clip the back of the van. To avoid this use the point where you can see the back of the object vehicle in the rear left window.

  • Really good video....... great and unique way to parallel park :-)
