  • cant u pour a little vinegar, or alcohol or mineral oil in your ear as a home remedy to ear infections???

  • Hi there,

I know some people have used these remedies with good results but I have not used them with my patients. I would say they would only work for outer ear infections as the ear drum will stop them entering the middle ear.

If you are going to try them it is vital that your ear drum is intact. If it has ruptured you should not put anything into your ears.

  • Hi there,

Sorry your ear is giving you pain. It sounds like it may be an ear infection. Your first stop should be your doctor to get a diagnosis. I would recommend you work on boosting your immune system with some vitamin C, zinc, garlic, onions, ginger, plenty of water and lots of rest. To relieve the pain you could try a heat pack held over your ear.

  • im 12 and i cant sleep and i have it right now it hurts

  • Hi Jamie,

Sorry your ear hurts. Ask your mum or dad to make up a warm compress (just rinse a flannel or cloth under some hot water and wring it out before placing over your sore ear). You could also try heat from a hot water bottle, heat pack or even a hair dryer. You can also ask your parents to visit a health food shop to get some ear drops tomorrow.

    Hope you get some sleep.

  • I have an ear infection right now... But the awesome thing is, my ear isn't hurting right now :D My mom gave me ear drops and tylenol and i have been keeping my head down except for going to the bathroom and switching from my room to the living room...So if you haven't, do these things and i hope it gets better.

  • Hi there,

Good that you are not experiencing ear pain. Sounds like you are resting your body and keeping the pain at bay with the ear drops and tylenol. With lots of fluids, healthy foods and rest I'm sure you will bounce back quickly.

  • @Jamierox888 i hav it it doesnt hurt at all unless i burp i also hav a cold

  • Sorry you are are experiencing dizziness and fainting. It could well be due to an inner ear infection especially if you have other symptoms like fever, malaise and swollen glands. I would spend a day in bed drinking lots of fluids. If it is still bad a visit to your doctor is recommended.
