Anyone who thinks perpetual motion is possible is probably in the lower quartile of the bell curve. Energy is always conserved, even through special relativity and quantum mechanics. If you convert mass to energy by nuclear reactions, the conversion is still conserved! If you transform that mass back into energy, you get the exact same amount back. There is no free lunch folks.
It is impossible to achieve terminal velocity within the boundaries of our physics. The sound of the water trickling is energy being lost, eventually the machine will stop.
thats not perpetual.. ur adding potential energy by lifting the water again. of course i know they didnt actually mean perpetual literally but thought id say

make it big and attach a generator to it

Sweet design. I love the large diameter and variable speed; it's extremely soothing to watch that + listen to it. Great job.

@brian01027 i am no stranger when it comes to waterwheels,i would use what i call a
overbalanced siphon,water or oil can be siphoned from container A back to container A.
the output side of the siphon has a larger midsection for continuous operation

@butch14ish too thick?

@brian01027 you could always use motor oil
