Holy Moley, Today Tommy Ill announces the release of the video for his single "Come Home Mr. Ill", the first single off his new EP of the same name, the follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed "Matchsticks".
One of New Zealand's most entertaining and original rappers, Tommy Ill's coming home and he's brought with him some brand spanking new visual delights. One year after wowing us with the video for "Letters to the Editor", he's back with fresh beats, a fresh track, and some fresh moving pictures in "Come Home Mr. Ill".
Loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood, and borrowing a little from Postman Pat and Monty Python, the video was shot entirely in HD in a small Wellington living room on a budget of $5. Director and hairy boy Brian Hainsworth says "We wanted to make a video on a tiny budget that looked like we had a huge budget but were trying to pretend our big budget video was low budget, but actually we had no budget. But I sure did have a lot of cocaine, and boy it was good! Golly! I can't feel my face, this rules."
Available to view now on Youtube and Vimeo, and screening shortly on television across New Zealand, this video is not to be missed. It's sexy. Look at these guys, they are all foxes. The Come Home Mr. Ill EP will be in stores very soon courtesy of LOOP Recordings Aotearoa.
