From 28 March until 18 April 2011 a special DXpedition will take place in Sierra Leone. Goal of this dxpedition is to raise awareness of poor people in the world.
Mercy Ships provides medical care to the sick, disabled and blind people and starts education projects and much more. In 2011 the hospitalship Africa Mercy is visiting Sierra Leone to provide medical care and charity projects on board as well as ashore. This ship has 6 operating rooms, hospital facilities with 78 beds and accommodation for 484 crewmembers and 7000 operations yearly.
The dxpedition team will support and sponsor the Mercy Vision project in Sierra Leone which is about reducing blindness.

The dxpedition will operate on 160m - 6m in SSB, CW, RTTY and will make a serious effort for 6m EME in JT65. Equipment will be elecraft k3, kenwood ts-2000 and icom ic-7200 with 2 small transistor linears and a SPE EXPERT 1K-FA (borrowed from HAMShop.nl). All antennas are light weight. Several receiving antennas will be used as well.
