Looks at one of the largest and most ambitious engineering schemes to be undertaken by the GLC, the construction of the Thames Barrier as part of a flood prevention scheme.
The film shows the dangers of the Thames flooding in London and mentions occasions when high tides have overtopped the defences.
Describes the new barrier being built at the Silvertown site, a mile upstream from Woolwich Ferry.
