Guess what? Sure enough, my parents got me a new computer for my birthday, and with that, comes a new Smartpen. I did end up getting the Echo after all. It's pretty cool.
I don't think the Echo is that much different from the Pulse, except that the Echo is more comfortable to hold.
I have the Pulse myself and I use it almost every day. I do think that the Echo looks cooler but I'm not going to get it because I'm more comfortable with my Pulse.
@jdesmul I had to take chem, micro, anatomy and other science classes. This pen helps sooooooooo much when studying. Especially for finals and midterms when you need a confusing part of a lecture explained. If you are in science or technical classes this pen is a great help. Saved my but many times.
@lf52 I think you get more hours of recording. You still have a 4 and 8 gig. But now the options are 400 hours and 800 hours of recording. There is also a password feature.
I've had a pulse 2gig for a year and a half. I really isn't like anything else out there. Last quarter, I recorded and uploaded all of the lectures for a biology class. Not only did the other students get the entire lecture, but they got all of my notes as I wrote them. I will also, record conversations with instructors. When I replay the audio and take notes accordingly it will pair the notes with the related audio for future ref, so you can zero in on what's important to the instructor.

@lowtone10 Thats not the point. You can click anywhere on your notes and it plays what was said _then_.
