Books about chickens, my personal recommendations, study before you guy...

Here i present just a few of the books I've found to be valuable when studying up on chickens. I hope you will take time to study them and when you know the bird breed that's right for your purpose, you'll be much happier with your choice.

Just read an Amazon review of The Chicken Book which stated that it's pro cockfighting. Did you find that to be true?

Hi, thanks for that question... the Chicken Book is a document which very accurately accounts for the chicken and it's place in cultures around the world. I suppose it would be nice to have an account of only the good life the chicken has had, but the book also describes the origins and nature of bird fighting... it's an account, not an endorsement. The Chicken Book is a non-judgmental look at the importance of the chicken throughout history. A history of Rome, would include gladiators.

Thanks for the reviews of these books. Think I'll head on over to Amazon and see if I can pick them up used. I too think "Storey's Guide To Raising Chickens" is an excellent reference for anyone considering raising backyard chickens.
