  • Teles are twangy and banjo sounding enough.. Sound even worse out of tune.

  • @skillzdatkillz900 That will be loud- you would be surprised how loud 5 tube watts is. Cranking the MG15....you get a synthetic, overly harsh tone. Cranking tubes.....nice warm musical distortion! Blackstar is a good name- I have a tube distortion pedal from them and its excellent!

  • @dmedicFF i think i have a solution. the blackstar ht5 mini stack. incredibly versatile, good build quality, all valve. only thing is, it's only 5 watts - will this be as loud as a marshall MG15? i only ask this because i hear valve amps are louder than solid state ones. hoping a 5watt tube amp would be as loud as a 15watt solid state.

  • @skillzdatkillz900 Its all up to you. But I'll tell u what- I have a Crate Palomino 15 watt tube amp (dont make em anymore). When I put my MXR Overdrive pedal in front of it and adjust settings, I get a great classic rock tone (ZZ Top, Eagles, Frampton and others). That amp is essentially a Blues Junior- same size, tubes, electronics. So I would try the Marshalls and Blues Jr to see what you like. Take the guitar you normally use with you.....

  • @dmedicFF so maybe it would just be better after all to go with the blues junior? but with a distortion pedal

  • @skillzdatkillz900 If the 50 watt has a clean channel, you may be able to play at home with the volume low, and a distortion pedal. But, to crank it, especially on an OD channel, its gonna be too much.

  • @dmedicFF so wait... would a 50 watt be really bad for home use? i know on solid state amps you can get a really overdriven sound on low volumes but im not sure if thats the same for a tube amp.

  • @skillzdatkillz900 No not ridiculous at all......the 50 watt will definitely be much louder. Even a 5 watt tube amp cranks. You may be able to play the 50 watt at home, low volume with an OD pedal perhaps. But cranking it will tear your walls down. You have to take your time and try lots of tube amps. There are as many choices and features as there are guitars. You will love the difference, and never go back to solid state.

  • @dmedicFF well, i play loud as i play my MG15 on full volume on the gain channel.... having said that, a 100 watt amp is probably a little too loud haha. is the 50 watt gonna be that much louder than my MG though. This might be a completely ridiculous question but, like i say, ive only ever owned one amp haha

  • @skillzdatkillz900 Yes they are all tube, and I think they also have effect loops so thats a bit more convenient if you use pedals. Keep in mind....its a 100 watt amp...I think they also have 50 watt versions....but thats alot of power. You wont be able to crank a 100 watt in your house, even 50 is too much
