This is a comparison of Microsoft Office (word, powerpoint, excel and iWork (pages, keynote, numbers).

This presentation for both programs are on a Mac. Although Microsoft Office is also completely compatible with a PC.

I work with Microsoft Office and iWork. I prefer Keynote more than Power Point because Keynote has better transitions and I like it better.

I love Pages but not having such limited save option just makes it unusable. TextEdit can save in txt and rtf but not Pages?

@cmadison93 Thank you. Undergrad in physics here aswell and have been looking for a good office pack, even though I mostly use LaTeX. I just wanted to know whether Office or iWork would be better for me but i'll go with Microsoft Office then.
