This commercial is funny. I've worked in lawn care and field work before. The string trimmers shown in this video (curved shafts and bump-head types) aren't made to bust the kinds of brush shown in this video. hahahhahahah. I bet if you tried a Kawasaki or other high output, straight shaft brush cutting trimmer with a fixed line head and the 105 line like the wheeled trimmers use, you wouldn't cry so much about it. Plus, high power trimmers can also use scythe blades and brush saws.
These things are kind of a pain in the butt to use for long fencelines or ditches, but they work well on areas that might have rocks and junk that destroy mower crankshafts.
@TheBerthalouise Yeah. They're worth every penny. I bought a few more parts for my 1998 DR Trimmer/Mower this week, and it works GREAT now. They really do come in handy.
I've had my dr trimmer for 15 years. Have had to replace the clutch cable, battery, and mow ball, but that's okay considering the hours I use it every year. The way to a long life with your trimmer is to take it easy! Don't expect it to cut through thick stocks and saplings unless you have the brush cutting blade. When trying to mow grass and weeds 3' tall It will do it, but cut off the top 1 1/2' by tilting it back and mowing high first, then go back and mow. Have mercy!
I have one of these, but it's an older model. It was my granddad's, but he passed away in '09, and the farm equipment is mine now(shown in my videos). It's a 1998 model.
I have one of these except it craftsman and it doesn't have electric start so I want 1 of those

Ok, I'm impressed now that you have a self-propelled version with a solid axle. Good job.
