Nurses from across the country and around the world unite to tell America it's time to tax Wall Street to pay Main Street back!
Nurses rallied at Market and Main Streets in San Francisco, grooved to the music, and visited SF City Hall to demand that Sutter Hospital treat nurses and patients with justice. Later nurses welcomed an array of special guests, among them, Filmmaker Michael Moore, Governor Jerry Brown, and California Lt. Governorl Gavin Newsom. RNs awarded Michael Moore their first Main Street Hero Award for his stunning work exposing Wall Street greed, and supporting everyday Americans during difficult economic times.
At the convention, nurses propelled their campaign to tax Wall Street forward, and called on nurses and Americans everywhere to join the ranks of people who are saying enough is enough. While the economy suffers, the richest one percent of the nation continue to make record profits.
Even a small tax on Wall Street transactions would generate as much as 350 billion dollars to help fund programs that have been cut and continue to be threatened as the lawmakers in Wall Street's pocket call for increasing cuts to essential services.
