one more thing: because of the relatively slow tempo of the Fugue, out of the six or so recordings on YouTube I must consider this my favorite. The piece *is* sacred -- whatever that means -- and these "Evangels," who are so arrogant in their faith, seem to know a thing or two about sacredness. Life is full of surprises.

As someone deeply agnostic, I'm almost pained to hear such a fine performance from this small group. But it is a sacred piece after all. I may not *believe*, but music like this makes me feel like a believer.

This is an AWESOME piece! I played this when I was in high school. I was excited to have a song that highlighted the viola section (the one I played, of course). I had to repeat this a few times. Perfect way to end my day :)

Thanks for doing this rarely-performed piece. I was new in high school when I first heard it and instantly loved it. Probably one of the reasons I switched to viola, BTW. Imagine my delight to see a recording of it decades later.
