These seven magpie nestlings were rescued from Calgary in early May after their nest was removed from a construction site. They are about 1 week old in this video. They are syringe-fed baby bird mush, a formula specially designed to meet the nutritional requirements of rapidly growing nestlings. The babies are fed mush every 30 min. The behaviour shown in the video is called gaping, where the baby birds open their beaks and stretch their necks out to receive food from their parents. Thanks for watching! Visit www.aiwc.ca.

Isn't it illegal for anyone to remove a nest with babies or eggs?
