A northbound train out of Tampa "O-something" through town. 2nd & 3rd cars are high-wide transformers. 5th & 6th are covered hoppers used in phosphate service, usually held captive to the Bone Valley region of Florida.

  • The last two locos are x-EMD leasing SD70Ms assigned to the Bone valley trains, probably going to Waycross fro servicing. The phosphate cars are likely going to be scrapped. I saw one in a manifest go through Folkston on Monday with "scrap" spray painted on the side. It had been stored in the Mulberry yard with a pulled drawbar

  • The exLLPX/EMDX SD70M's do make it through Folkston regularly, sometimes DIT or as power. Just hope the three in EMD paint stay that way for a while, especially since all the color from the leasers are slowly disappearing!

  • actually 3rd and fourth are transformers

  • yeah, thats what I meant :-)

  • The second and third cars are transformers. In Laurens, SC, there is the Carolina & Piedmont RR that runs to Greenville and back. The top customer on the line is the GE plant in G'ville. The turbines are brought to Laurens and set in Irby Yard for distribution on the CSX line that goes through Laurens.

  • thats a lot of horsepower on this train... this resembles like this train may be passing through sand patch or altapass bc of the amount of horsepower on this train. i would suggest thats pretty unusual through florida, unless if this train my be extremely heavy and have to go through those dips of the track.

  • Last time I was out to Mulberry I only saw two stillin the maroon and silver.

  • Neat cars

  • love those horns on those new locos!

  • I dont think that train had enough power. :-)

  • ok, :p
