Twilight Saga Vs. Vampire Diaries: NYPost Says VD Is Better!

Hey everyone-Joslyn Davis in the ClevverTV studio with news that has fans of Twilight and Vampire Diaries going head to head. A writer from the "New York Post," Ari Karpel, recently wrote an article stating his preference for Paul Wesley over Robert Pattinson. He also noted his overall stance on the battle between the vampire sagas has him siding with Vampire Diaries.

Karpel gave three three reasons why he feels so strongly in favor of the Diaries. Number one-blood and gore. He wrote that the show "is a more traditional vampire horror tale than Twilight," while the movies focus more on romance than murder. Plus, he also notes that the Cullens don't even have the normal vampire fangs.

Number two-Karpel likes the sex factor in Vampire Diaries. So far in the Twi-saga, we haven't seen any serious action on this front, and the writer says that the films promote vampires having "falsely neutered innocence," which isn't really in line with normal vampire characteristics.

And lastly Karpel gives the reason of contrasting heroines. He writes that Bella is a blank slate without any actual personality, while Elena "sets an example for young girls as strong minded woman." And when Elena learns Stephan is a vampire she is truly horrified.

Wow-so lots to ponder. Karpel brings up some valid points, but do you guys even care? Isn't the reason everyone likes Twilight because it gives a fresh look at an old story? But if you agree with him, that's totally ok with us, too! Battle it out below in the comments section.

Bella in twilight shows no true sadness, while Elena does. Not once have I seen Bella cry in the twilight series.

Acting: VD > Twilight

The vampires and werewolves are completely different. VD vampires don't sparkle and actually stick to the myth of them burning in daylight. The werewolves in twilight, however, look more CGI'd. Not a huge factor.

Myth: VD > Twilight

And overall, Twilight seems too serious, no real humor is put into it unlike VD.

I don't mean to dis all the Twilight fans but I think Bella and Edwards relationship is unhealthy... I mean Edward is way to possessive of Bella and Bella is so dependent on Edward that she ditches her friends... Also she doesn't think she is good enough for Edward and also when he leaves I get that someone would feel depressed and sad but to go all suicidal? I mean I don't know but that is just my opinion some might say it's true love but I just think it's a really unhealthy relationship.

@MattRuaneBlog Twilight = Great and fresh look at an old story that is about going to the ends of the earth for the one person who means more to you than your life. The story recounts in hypnotic, dreamy, prose, encapsulates perfectly the feeling of sexual tension and alienation.

The Vampire Diaries = Great story about the traditional vampires we dress up as on Halloween, and love to read about in many books and watch in many films.

The whole problem with these comparison debates between Twilight, Harry Potter, and Vampire Diaries, i the fact that no-one looks both ways and actually takes time to do with what you're supposed to do in all Novels and films. If you just imagine yourselves in the situation that they're all in you'll understand what they're all about and how to appreciate them for what they are.
