Fire closed the North Entrance to the Grand Canyon the day this was filmed. Temps around 100, single digit humidity and unstable air due to a cold front, all you can do is get out of the way.

This would be called a running crown fire with fire spotting a quarter to half a mile ahead of it.

  • i was there assigned to the warm fire as an engine boss that fire started out as a 4 acre lighting fire and was supposed to be a 400 acre fire use fire and thats what happens when the forest service does stupid shit like always!

  • Hindsight is 20/20.

The area needs to burn, just not when there is record drought, triple digit tempatures combined with single digit humidity with predicted monsoons a month away.

The place is also a Political nightmare with the Enviromentalists and the National park close by.

  • Is this the warm fire?

  • It is the Warm Fire and was taken on June 25th 2006.

  • There are some dumb ass people that don't know anything about wildfires, the park service is all about fire use fires right now, and the fire managers don't always get them right, but it's Arizona, who really cares it didn't turn into another Rodeo-Chediski so as long as nobody died it's a learning experience.

  • oh damn, I left the fire burning in the woods when I was camping there that day, my bad.

  • Um, this was a wildfire. The FS is trying to put out fires that stupid members of the public start while playing with matches.

  • Incredible large fire, against this we can't do anything.

  • Cool, yeah i work an engine on the north kaibab. pretty awesome yeah at first i was the Slide fire from this year but then i saw the date you posted it, and well that couldn't happen. but thx good footage.

  • Could anyone tell me the date when these images were recorded. Thanks
