Elvis Presley I Beg Of You
Written by Rose Marie McCoy and Kelly Owens. Elvis recorded it February 23, 1957 at Radio Recorers. The single had a 12-week stay on the Top 100 chart, peaking at #8. It reached #5 on the Country Disc Jockey Chart and #4 on the Rhythm and Blues Chart. It sold over 1,000,000 copies. It was the B-side to Don't. It is available on Elvis Golden Records Vol. 2 and The King of Rock 'n' Roll-The Complete 50s Masters, which is where this version is from. An alternate take is also available on The King of Rock 'n' Roll-The Complete 50s Masters.

I don't want my heart to be broken
Cause it's the only one I've got
So darling please be careful
You know I care a lot
Darling please don't break my heart
I beg of you

I don't want no tears a-falling
You know I hate to cry
But that's what's bound to happen
If you say goodbye
Darling please don't say goodbye
I beg of you

Hold my hand and promise
That you'll always love me true
Make me know you'll love me
The same way I love you little girl

You got me at your mercy
Now that I'm in love with you
So please don't take advantage
Cause you know my love is true
Darling please please love me too
I beg of you

Hold my hand and promise
That you'll always love me true
Make me know you love me
The same way I love you little girl

You got me at your mercy
Now that I'm in love with you
So please don't take advantage
Cause you know my love is true
Darling please please love me too
I beg of you
Darling please please love me too
I beg of you
Darling please please love me too
I beg of you

  • Jackiej61too Nice photo choice & composition. Thanks. I'm curious as to who came up with the musical arrangement of the RCA release of "I Beg of You," since it sounds so different in the alternate takes with a guitar opening & repeating guitar high-note accents throughout. Since the Jordanaires are featured at the start of the commercial release, was it one of them who suggested the change? Was it Elvis? Can someone get this to one of the Jordanaires, Scotty Moore or anyone who would know?

  • Great 50s Rocker from Elvis and Video showcasing the king with his adoring fans:) Thanks Jackie.

  • GREAT SONG BY YOUNG ELVIS!!
