More than a year after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, the city of New Orleans hired a Recovery Czar to lead the city's rebuilding effort. His name was Edward Blakely and he presided over a process mired in controversy and bureaucracy. CalTV's Yaou Dou reports.

I've lived here for a few years now...and people here, at least in the white collar sector work hard as well.

And he is blowing the race issue out of the water to deflect criticisms rightly directed at him.

Just learned on the New Orleans news tonight that the interviewer was an intern under Blakeley. Shame on you for not disclosing that fact.

its sad to see when even a black man can't expree his true opoin about the failed government and people of new orleans without being shouted down---new orleans is a great city but a lot of its people who were not here 25 years ago have turned it into a "SHITHOLE" ---they kill each other at the drop of a hat---during katrina they started looting even before the storm hit--after the storm did they steal food-"NO" ---just tv's and tennis shoes--nola is racist they all just hate white people
