So much for blue skies...I suppose the meterologists could argue that by forecasting 'mostly sunny' they meant that part of the day was going to be sunny (the first part in this case) but the rest would be cloudy, not that there would be blue sky with some clouds all day long. Still, I resolved to make the best of it, I just hoped the '20% chance of rain' in the forecast held true...

There may have been no blue in the sky, but there was on the point of the next train, northbound trash empties behind two Conrail veterans - SD60I 8739 (ex-CR 5616) and patched C40-8W 7316 (ex-CR 6089).

  • Ashland must be one of those lame "quiet communities"?

  • Just the very center, but the trains will blow on the outskirts - and they salute every now and then too. I missed their town Train Day this year; I'm told that the quiet zone is lifted temporarily then.

  • Awesome ex-Conrail lashup! It's so cool that you saw the other unit over a decade later nearly the same paint job. Awesome video!
