  • My plan is to start running the house lighting first then increase the load gradually over time.I have approx 700amp hours of capacity in my battery banks as tested.Only 300w inverter but pure sine wave but very exspensive if you want national grid quality mains.yuasa 100amp hours each x 10,got 30 on ebay took my van because very heavy.hope to get 500w of solar eventally to comlement the wind turbine(Futurenergy make, check it out online.)

  • All solar panels are rated incorectly.all makers dont tell the truth because.

volts x amps = watts.... but a panel is rated at 17.5v peak.but as soon as you connect a battery it has a resistence like my batterys are 1 meg ohm each.

    Example.....15v x 1amp = 15watts this is for a 20watt panel.

need batterys to store power then use 12v inverter to 230v mains(if you can get one buy a pure sine wave inverter but they are pricy for clean mains.

    next installment later

  • oo,,few yrs ago

now ya get them for £110 for 80w panel.

glad ive started with this stuff while its cheap.

  • Wow this system is almost identical to my home solar system of two by 25watt panels but I only have 210ah installed battery capacity. Would love to stick a wind turbine up some day too but my neighbours will whine about it.

  • Pretty good !

What are you powering with them ?

What is the capacity of your inverter ?

How many and what type of batteries are you using ?

  • Nice explanation - how are you finding your solar panels ? what can you use them to power - I am just about to get a panel for lights & tv in a stationary caravan and would love to hear from you with how solar is working for you ...regards simon

simon kadwill at hotmail com I have just discovered energy saving 12volt bulbs
