  • Hi etnies4life

    Thanks for your e-mail.

I am tempted to ask what colour balloon but will refrain. If rainbows were the brightest fish on the planet we would not catch many on the fly.

  • Hi flyfisher2k8

Thanks for your comments. The dubbing is usually hare body fur, I also use rabbit body fur. I do various mixes with additional fluorescent fibres added in moderate quantities. Recently I have acquired possum skin and it is a brilliant dubbing medium. Try it if you can get it.

  • Can't wait to give these a go!

  • If you get super glue/varnish/head cement in the eye of the hook, just clear it (before it dries) using a dubbing needle, pin or scrap bit of fine wire. Some like to pass a fine hackle through the eye, which will soak up any excess varnish etc..

  • I notice you applied the varnish near the eye of the hook. Will that cover up the eyelet and make it difficult to thread a line through the hook?

  • these lessons are very relaxing, and very good to learn. the older folks know best, trust me!

  • absolutely brilliant. just the Dad I wish I'd had to show me how to tie flies

  • @topflyman Where would you suggest finding these supplies at (the feathers, beads, etc, etc...)?

  • Like your lessons, not the advistisement. Will be tying HR's next.
