But here's is a simple question for you anyway. Why shouldn't Canada, Mexico, Greenland and twenty-one other countries call themselves American, if they wish to, when we all share the North American Continent? Why only the United States. And just as a reminder to collapse your other argument, the U.S was also a colony of England before the revolution.

@TheInternetWanderer The North American Continent (Mexico, America & Canada) is called North America. Canada is a Country with-in the North American Continent. Canada and Mexico are NEVER referred to as "America". The U.S.A (United States of America) does not include Canada or Mexico. We are two (or three) different Country's living with-in North America. The United States of America are the 50+ States in witch America Owns......Not the two Country around it...

Show me one map that refers to the U.S as exclusively “America”? It’s always the United States of America, yes?

“North America” or just “America”, the U.S. has no rational claim to the name itself America.

Historically the whole continent was referred to as “The Americas” by Europe, as it is still known as today. You go read a book okay, go to the library, that’s where all the books live.
