Fireworks celebrations set a 20 story hotel on fire in China's northeastern Liaoning Province. Around 50 guests staying in the hotel were evacuated, but no casualties were reported.
A fire triggered by fireworks blazed through a five-star hotel in Shenyang City on Thursday, the first day of the Chinese New Year.
The fire began a few minutes after midnight within an apartment building complex and quickly spread to the adjacent Sheraton Shenyang Lido Hotel.
Around 50 guests staying in the hotel were evacuated. There were no casualties reported in the incident.
The fire was brought under control by 4:35 am. Further investigation into the cause of the fire and losses is still in progress.
Fireworks celebrations are common during Chinese New Year throughout the country and each year there are several reports of injuries and fires caused by fireworks.
