My Generation Energy client and Brewster MA resident, Richard, discusses the change he's seen in his monthly electric bill since installing solar electric (photovoltaic) panels on his home.
Yes, the panels would need to be disassembled to put on the new roof. Many say that having the panels on the roof covering the shingles will significantly prolong the life of the roof. We only install solar on fairly new roofs so that the roof will not need to be reshingled for a long, long time. We work with a roofer who will install standoffs for the panels as he is reshingling a roof. A great option if the roof needs to be replaced soon anyway.
I like solar but am not completely sold on it yet. I see a lot of the roof is covered with solar panels. Whats the plan when it is time to replace a worn out roof, I assume the solar system has to be disassembled then put back together?
