On Monday, more protesters gathered outside of the White House as part of a 15-day-long effort to halt the Keystone XL Tar Sands Pipeline, which would cut through the middle of America, from the border with Canada all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. Protesters spoke out against the pipeline, which has the potential to generate disastrous effects across large regions of the country, pleading with President Obama to not allow the plans for the pipeline to go through.
"We're asking President Obama to make the right decision, because he can decide yes or no," said Mike Tidwell, the founder and director of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network, in this video from The Nation and On The Earth Productions. "He doesn't need Congress's involvement." Watch a video here from Saturday's protests.

Why is it that environmentalists have to look like hippies or mentally deranged?

This guy is clearly deranged and knows nothing about the big picture. Just looking for 15 minutes of fame without knowing why.

The batteries will hold 80% charge up to 10 years. If you have a problem with Lion batteries you need to explain to me how foreign oil is better than American electric.

@ttube438 Too bad the batteries lose over 50 percent of their capacity after less then 5 years and procuring materials for the batteries causes more environmental damage then a pipeline.

@jamesbondaygee Wrong - electric cars are being produced slowly but surely. It takes years to bring a successful technology to market. Look up EVER - Electric vehicle extended range. Several American car companies are pioneering the technology which is due to hit the market this year. I'm not talking little boxes like we have in the market now, but family sized cars that get over 100mpg. When these cars become available everyone will want one.

EVER electric vehicle extended range. These cars will in the coming years be affordable, high quality, American made vehicles. Every model from 2 door sport to large SUV will be powered by lithium ion batteries. Think of a world where we import zero oil from the middle east and every car gets over 100mpg. These cars are in the works. What we must not do is destroy our economy with shortsighted environmental policies. We must continue using natural fuels until these next gen EVERs arrive.

I believe the enviromentals can take credit for one thing. Their policies being adopted by liberal politicians and legitimized by radicals on the Supreme Court have outlawed almost all domestic oil production. This policy forces our continued presence in the middle east and is a major contributing factor in the radicalization of the native populace. Thankfully technological advancements will provide alternatives to fossil fuel. There are American car companies producing next generation EVERs

I got news for you. obama must approve the pipeline or he will guarantee his lose in the general election. obama literally can't buy a job and this pipeline alone is estimated to bring as many as 100,000 high paying jobs and then as many as 10,000 jobs in the refining of the oil. The global warming argument is getting old and these left wing enviromentals have really damaged the US. We must balance the impact on jobs vs. the so called environmental impact and side with jobs.
