The Scottish Highland village of Carrbridge is the home of the annual World Porridge Making Championship which every October sees expert porridge makers from across the globe gather to battle it out for the honour of claiming the prestigious Golden Spurtle trophy.

Winner of the 2009 championship was Matthew Cox from Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods based in the US west coast city of Portland - the first American ever to scoop the World Porridge Making Champion title.

Earlier this year a delegation from Carrbridge travelled to the US to visit Bob's Red Mill, meet the founder, the legendary Bob Moore and take a look behind the scenes of the company's giant milling operations. This short film was produced from our personal 'Mill Tour' with Bob.

  • i work within view of this place, yet ive never gone

  • I've been eating Bob's Red Mill this week

  • Bob Moore,

You're inspiring! You put the public before profits, creating healthy products, which inspired us to eat well. You treated your employees like friends, which inspired them to work smart. And when you finally retired, instead of selling out and putting all your employees out of work, you gave your beloved company to them!

You are a true American pioneer, sir. You have discovered new pathways for us all and set a powerful example of how to do business in America.

  • I used to work here! Great place to work!

  • The old T-1 fork truck(The Ferrari!). Spent many days driving that 1969 classic around.
