  • I hold a B.A. in philosophy. If one believes in Mormonism, then logically mormons must state that there are an infinite number of Gods. Mormons are for a lack of a better word polytheists.

  • @187dAFeD congratulations on your degree. I grew up with philosophy my father had a Ph.D in Philosophy and I believe it has some great merit and love to wax philosophically yet I also believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ. In response to your comment I can see why you could say that however, that would only be true should we actually worship more than one God, which we do not! We only worship God the Father..who did Christ Himself pray to? He prayed to His Father (and ours) even God the Father.

  • Interesting how you stayed away from the book of Mormon when you defended the Mormon faith. Jesus was married?!? I guess you have to speculate that to backup Smiths claim that he was a direct decendant of Jesus? The prophets were polygamists??name one. There were men in the old testement that were polygamists but I don't recall any of the prophets to be. Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, elijiah?

  • @SilverStar40 when did Joseph Smith claim to be a direct descendant of Jesus Christ? Answer is he never did.

  • I love how Mormonism doesn't expect to have all the answers....its very true that there are things we don't know. Even though were not supposed to...I find speculating very exciting. lol

  • I don't believe anyone but God has ALL the answers. If there is one thing in this life I have learned it's that if you pick a topic and find anyone who claims to know absolutely everything about it, you can pretty much guarantee that they do not. I believe we must all be willing to be even as a little child and willing to learn and to also be as a true scientist and/or truth seeker and be willing to take us where ever the truth may lead. Thanks you for your comment.

  • But these hardships, both intentional and unintentional, have brought them closer together.

  • Carlas: ..though made in his image we don't share in his essence the way Jesus does.

In a certain respect, I agree with this statement. Christ is spiritually perfect in the same way that God the father is spiritually perfect. St Symeon at the end of the tenth century wrote, "He who is God by nature converses with those whom he has made gods by grace, as a friend converses with his friends, face to face ."

I can agree with that. Christ was Deity by nature, while we can partake only by grace.

  • Don't focus on the mysteries? Which inevitable lead people to believe they will become gods. I've heard it from Mormons myself. I'm so tired of you guys dodging the truth about your religion.

  • What a joke when superstitious people tell other superstitious people how silly their beliefs are. Its like someone who believes in Santa laughing at someone who believes in the Easter bunny. Choose to live a reality based life.

  • @SilverStar40 well, there was Abraham (the Father of All, Prophet and Seer in Egypt) had two wifves, Jacob (Israel) had four, Joseph the Dreamer (a Seer) also had two Wives. After that, Moses was called to lead Israel out of Egypt...he married BOTH Zipporah(Ex 2: 21) and another Ethiopian(Num. 12:1), who remained nameless. The remaining prophets have told us absolutely nothing since regarding their wives. We assume either they followed the traditions of thier fathers, or they were Catholic.

  • I like how you showed that the foundations to these "wierd" beliefs are actually found IN the Bible, not in our "mormon bible", aka the Book of Mormon.

  • @ddrseden we say he has done many great works, we do not believe that he was greater than the Savior.

  • @ddrseden you are completely incorrect on this one there is nothing that states a prophet, any prophet of God is higher or greater than Jesus Christ. The very fact that they are prophets states that they are the mouthpiece of God the Father and therefore only a vessel to speak the word of God to his Children. It is only in and through Jesus Christ alone that we may enter into the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom.

Jesus Christ is the cornerstone and the very foundation of our church.
