I was 15 years old and in high school when this was released. I fell in love with June Christy. Years later I became a disc jockey and I was her number one until her passing. She was the bestest (sic) swinginest loveliest thing around.

Thanks for posting these and bringing back lotsa great memories for me.

Saludos desde Tampico Tamaulipas Mexico lastima que ya Tampico cambio. Ahora es otra cosa aunque hay progreso y mas industria dejo esa esencia mágica de los viejos tiempos. I meant to write "the epitome" of class, being a gentleman and intelligent musicianship. Can't believe I got "immediately" wrong--I'm a writing teacher! You may beat me up if you wish.

June recorded this shortly after joining the band, the big break she dreamed of but never really expected (she didn't know how to tell Kenton, her hero, that she couldn't read music). He liked everything about her but her name (Shirley Luster) and through their long association gave her the greatest respect and affection. Her successor, Chris Connor, called Kenton "the epitome" of class, being a gentleman and class. "Tampico" immedaitaely established her as a star.
