Richard Lionel Martin (July 26, 1951 - March 13, 2011) was a Canadian professional ice hockey winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Buffalo Sabres and Los Angeles Kings for 11 seasons between 1971 and 1982. He was perhaps most famous for playing on the Sabres' French Connection line with Gilbert Perreault and Rene Robert.

Rick Martin died on March 13, 2011 in Clarence, NY from a heart attack while driving. He was 59 years old. He is survived by his wife Mikey, and his two sons Corey and Josh.

  • Man this brought me to tears seeing highlights of his playing days was nice. He played far before my day but if seen alot of film of him and he was good 2nd all time in sabres history in goals and he seemed like a genuinly great guy made me really sad when i heard the news of his passing my prayers are with his family rest in peace Mr.Martin Buffalo, NY misses you

  • An impressive tribute for a legendary hockey player. Richard Martin will be missed dearly by all Buffalo Sabres fans. He will be missed more(aside from his family & friends) so by the true fans of the game of hockey. He embodied everything that is great about the game. Richard Martin played the game as if there was no tommorrow. Yes, his skills were world class. His drive and determination as an unstopable, offensinve force was second to none. He just wanted to score and win...bottom line
