At Lindong, Inner Mongolia, China, this freight train was double headed with two 2-10-2 QJ steam locos, no. 6891 and 7048. This was filmed during the last months of steam hauled freight train services whilst on a Railway Touring Company trip to China in October 2005

  • So if a railroad wanted a buy a QJ or some other steam locomotive from China, it should be relatively cheap because there are being replaced right?

  • @skyraiderjet I think these two QJ locomotives made it to the USA and were preserved but most would have been sold for scrap as the value of scrap metal is high

  • Well don't forget to come over to my place Densworldofvideos

  • good videos of the cockatoo, quite a similarity to here in West London UK where we have flocks of several hundred bright green ring neck parakeets along the River Thames that were also originally cage birds.

  • Is this real freight? I meaning paying customer to pull these freights?

  • as far as I know the freight train was run for customers who were paying for goods to be carried. Soon after this video was taken, by the end of 2005, steam locomotives of this type were replaced by diesel.

  • @kickflip1234100

yes as far as i am aware.

I dont particularly care that they are chinese, its the fact that they are still running, thats what i like to see :) though they could do with some K5LA horns instead of the ones they have

  • @Xantec yeah, arent they owned by iowa interstate or something like that?

  • Two QJs are at home on the Iowa Interstate, which is the old Rock Island RR Illinois Division. Check out here on YouTube - for example, "QJ crossing the Mississippi RIver...."

  • @skyraiderjet many of this steam locomotives are dismantled and sold as scrap iron, some are sold to mines and industry works as shunter engine。

  • What happens to the Qj locomotives after they are replaced? Could they possibly be sold to another railway?

  • That must be a long train; thats a lot of horsepower right there.
