Funk is hybrid. In the 60s it evolved from mambo, funky soul, psychedelic rock, free jazz, protest poetry. In the 70's it permeated fusion jazz, afrobeat, chicano rock, film scores, TV themes, N'awlins gumbo, german electronica, eurodisco, reggae dub, postpunk. Into the 80's it mutated through many more changes...

NONA HENDRYX followed her success with Labelle by exploring funk-rock styles with the Talking Heads, Material, and her own albums. The new Labelle reunion album will be produced by Lenny Kravitz.

Who did the guitar solo on this? Its unreal. I heard this on Studio 54 on Sirius radio and was blown away by it! I never heard the song before and I lived through the 80's.

Blimey, never ever can i get enough of this tune. Fabulous, pumping rythm, tunes in the background, with that VOICE giving it some LAAAARGE . . . .
