Made by Nelson Brothers and sold under the Sattley name through Montgomery Wards, this 3/4hp 4 cycle engine is another example of the many small utility engines made in the 1930's for general use on farms before electrification of rural areas. These were made in horizontal and vertical cylinder versions. Throttle governed.

  • could it power a go kart

  • @MrLangley59 it could but not much power, I think these were only rated a little over a half horsepower.

  • what's the engine displacement?

  • @graffie it should be about 150cc

  • Where is the gas tank?

  • The oil and the gas are both located in the base in separate chambers. The gas is pumped up to the carb and excess is drained back to the tank.

  • That is the most unusual Sattley I've ever seen. I'd imagine they tell you to oil the rockers before every run.

  • nice little engine. i just bought two "parts" engines hopefully enough to make at least 1 complete runner

  • Is this an offshoot of the maytag? Looks very similar.

  • They did do it on Tecumseh Enduros for a while.
