Drug testing for welfare recipients.

Lawmakers in at least eight states want recipients of food stamps, unemployment benefits or welfare to submit to random drug testing.

Here are the eight states:

I think they should be drug tested. How is a person work-ready if they will test positive for drug use? I started a new job a few months ago after being unemployed for a long while. Was it unfair when my new employer drug tested me? No. Neither is it unfair for an unemployment benefit recipient to be drug tested to make sure they can start a new job asap.

Once the Economy rebounds.. WTF?The Government created this problem on both sides of the fence, they created the Welfare State and they hold the thumb on us with over regulation as to stifle economic growth! Don’t believe this Government media propaganda BS! We need to create a demand for unskilled manufacturing jobs! What drug dealer accepts foodstamps from their buyers. Show me one. I can understand testing the ones who gets ssi or social security but testing the ones who just receive stamps?

@curtisjones400 NOPE NO drugs at all. I know the drug background, I grew up around it and all my uncles, aunts are druggies, They get aid as well but I dont agree with that either.. If i have to stay clean and pee in a bottle to pay work and pay taxes then People on welfare should too. NO EXCEPTIONS. Get them help but dont pay them shit. and ONCE they are clean limit how long people can be on welfare..Welfare is a AID not a life time choice.

@realussoldier45 Drug addiction is a sickness so rather then deny the people that test positive for drugs benefits-the more practical solution would be to make in mandatory that they receive outpatient treatment and gradually ween them off drugs -you don't punish someone because they have a probem you get them help
