I love R/C but I don't get it when people build this big. I can go to my local airport an cruise around in a Cessna for an hour for less than $200.

There is no legal limit to the size of RC plane you can fly in the US and you don't need AMA waivers to fly on a non club field. You can build a 150% model and fly it on your own property if you want.
