  • ...and at 7:00pm EST Saturday October 11, I will cue this piece up to drown out whatever is picked as the new theme.

  • I'm still pissed. I still want the gov't to buy the damned song back. Just pay the lady the three mil. that TSN gave her. It is worth it.

  • @streakypro yes indeed. newfoundland only became part of canada in 1949.

  • Dear Comcast:

There is only one Hockey Night, Saturday night, Hockey Night in Canada.

  • @SpGcAr1117 When Foster Hewitt used to do the radio, Newfoundland was not a Canadian province, and if your in the US, you can still get hockey night

  • @SpGcAr1117

Newfoundland was mentioned separately because the Dominion of Newfoundland and Labrador was a part of the UK until 1949, not Canada; that introduction was written when present day Newfoundland was part of the UK

  • @GorterPoss true that

  • @swordlord44 Yeah fuckin' Bob Mackenzie! CBC has more class.

  • FUCK YOU TSN!

  • i miss the old song too. im happy its on tsn but they seriously screwed it up

  • For reference, that is because that way back when Foster Hewitt first started calling hockey games, Newfoundland was still a British colony. It wasn't until 1949 when Newfoundland joined Canada that there stopped being a distinction between Newfies and Canadians.

  • excellent observation. They've butchered the song!
